HOMELESS SHELTER SUPPORT NEEDS

COVID-19

Women donating food to shelter

Your help is needed as we work to address the impact of COVID-19 on our homeless community in Monterey and San Benito Counties.

The Health Officer for the County of Monterey issued a Shelter in Place Order to take effect March 18, 2020 as a means for protecting residents from the impact of COVID-19.  The Order requires residents to remain at home except to perform essential activities, and allows essential businesses, such as homeless shelters, to remain open.

In response to the Order, Community Homeless Solutions converted its Salinas and San Benito overnight shelters to 24-hour facilities.  As a result, our shelters need more staff and more supplies to meet cleaning and health safety protocols.  Scarcity of essentials and higher prices are also increasing the challenges faced by our programs and jeopardize the well-being of guests and staff.

Please consider donating or volunteering at any of our programs.
